accommodation

Jaliya Camp is not a hotel or “campement” but a creative space and our second home, situated just 200 meter from the the quiet beach on the edge of the Atlantic ocean and close to the small river of Abene.

Our houses/rooms are very simple but clean with double or separate beds. Some rooms have a private toilet and shower and some rooms share toilet and shower (cold water).

Just note that sometimes the village is out of water and then we use buckets with water from our own well instead, provided to you by our staff.

We will also provide water boilers if you wish to make your own tea of coffee.

We will do our best to make sure to get you what you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible and we will develop Jaliya Camp together with your input and needs!

Most importantly - at Jaliya Camp we take down the tempo, quiet the mind, live comfortably but simple, close to the nature, the music and our own creativity!

food

We eat together in the traditional Senegalese way by sharing big bowls together (of course you can get your own plate if you wish).

Meals often consist of fresh fish, rice and local crops, aubergine, sweet potatoes, onions, potatoes and carrots. Meals are often served with the fruits of the season. Papaya, banana, orange, the superfruit baobab and the delicious ditax are the most common ones in December/January.

Our breakfasts consists of coffee, herbal teas and the traditional West african super tea "Kinkeliba"  with higher antioxidant levels than Green tea. Served together with delicious omelette, with or without mayonaise, porrige and the local bread "tapalapa" with butter and delicious marmelade made of papaya, hibiscus, orange and mandarine produced in the neighbouring village Kafountine.

If you have special dietary requirements please communicate it to us when making a reservation.

The range of food is quite limited in the village but we will try our best to meet your needs!
